Masquerade

Taking your seat…

What should the table call you?

How to play

This page deals the roles. The game itself is played at the table. One player is the King, dealt face up. Two Assassins want the King dead, the Knight protects the King, and two loners play their own game.

1 · Take your seats

Everyone opens this page on their own phone. The first six take the seats; keep the page open, because a closed page gives up its seat. When all six are in, the host deals.

2 · Look at your card, alone

Tap the card to flip it. Read your role and your secret, then tap Got it and Hide card. Never show your screen to anyone.

3 · The King is revealed

The King plays face up: every phone shows The King is … as soon as the cards are dealt. Every other role stays secret until its owner is out of the game.

4 · Play it out

Hunt, bluff and eliminate each other however your table plays. Claim any role you like, but nobody may show their screen. A player who is killed reveals their card.

Who wins

  • The Assassins win by killing the King.
  • The King and the Knight win by keeping the King alive: kill both Assassins.
  • The Jester wins by surviving the game, whoever else wins.
  • The Executioner wins by killing the Jester.

The roles and what your card tells you

The King Crown · face up
Everyone knows who you are. Stay alive.
The Knight Crown
Your goal is to protect the King. Stay hidden: the Assassins may come for you first.
The Assassin ×2 Assassins
Your card names your fellow Assassin. Together, kill the King.
The Jester Alone
Survive to the end. Nobody knows who you are, except that the Executioner is closing in.
The Executioner Alone
Your card gives two names. One of them is the Jester. Work out which, and kill them.

Between games

The host taps Redeal for brand-new roles with the same six, End round to go back to the table, or Reset to clear everyone and reload every phone.
